Kickstart Your Diet and Health
Here are some diet changes that will improve your health. These are simple changes that you must implement and the results will come poring forth. So, lets not waste time.
1. Keep a food journal. Keeping track of what you eat and recording everything that goes into your mouth is a great way to keep yourself on target and check your progress over time. In addition, when you have to record all that you are consuming, it will be harder to not notice the amounts of unhealthy foods you are eating. When you write down exactly what you eat and drink, it will be easier to notice and point out problems that need to be fixed.
2. Cut out the sugar. Your body will do much better without it. Sugar is not good for you or your microbiome (which affects you).
3. Don’t eat fruit with other foods. Fruit is a healthy snack and has many benefits. Fruits however do not combine well with other foods. So, eat the fruits separately, preferably 15 to 30 minutes apart.
4. This may sound simple and it is, bit sometimes we just need to be reminded about the most obvious things. Don’t overeat. Not only that, don’t even fill your stomach to its capacity. Leave it 20% empty. It may be hard to know how full you are, but this isn’t an exact science. If you eat slowly it will be easier for you to evaluate how full you are, since your brain doesn’t register that the stomach is full, right away.
5. Drinking is important, and staying hydrated is essential for optimal health and weight. However, don’t drink with your meal. Limit yourself to not more than a glass of water during meals. When you drink during the meal you are diluting the digestive juices and enzymes necessary for good digestion. Drinking at meal time will just overburden your body with digesting the food and over complicate things. Make sure to hydrate yourself and drink a half hour before meals or over an hour after.
6. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Five or six servings is great. Have vegetables around your house or office to munch on. Cut up sticks of celery, carrots, peppers, kohlrabi, cucumbers and whatever facies you. Instead of reaching for potatoes chips, you can eat from your stash of fruits and veggies.
7. Avoid any hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated. Period.
8. Squeeze some lemon or lime into a glass of water. This is an easy way to help alkalize your body.
9. Caffeinated drinks should be limited as they dehydrate you.
These are just a few tips to get you started.
